Text & Developer Tools
Free online text tools and developer utilities: word counter, character counter, sentence counter, case converter, duplicate line remover, JSON formatter, JSON validator, Base64 encoder and decoder, URL encoder and UUID generator.
Writers need to hit word limits, social media managers need to fit character counts, and developers need to clean up JSON or encode a string in a hurry. Our text tools and developer tools handle these small but frequent jobs instantly, so you can paste, click and copy the result.
All of these utilities run in your browser. The text you paste is processed on your own device and is not sent to our servers, which makes them safe for drafts, code snippets and configuration files.

Why use browser-based text tools?
Desktop editors can count words, but they rarely show character limits for different platforms, convert naming conventions or validate JSON in one place. These lightweight online text utilities load quickly on any device and work without installing software. Students counting essay words may also like our reading time and grade calculators, and anyone preparing images for the web can use our image and PDF tools.

Frequently asked questions
Does the word counter count hyphenated words as one word?
Yes. Words joined by a hyphen, such as “well-known”, are counted as one word, which matches how most word processors count them.
Is my text stored or uploaded?
No. These tools process text in your browser, so it is not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
What is the difference between a JSON formatter and a JSON validator?
A formatter rearranges valid JSON so it is easy to read (or compresses it). A validator checks whether the JSON follows the correct syntax and points to errors such as missing commas or quotes.
Is Base64 a form of encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding that turns data into text characters. Anyone can decode it, so it should never be used to protect sensitive information.
